Humane × Scientific × Effective

Sara Richter, owner and founder of Simply Animal Behavior and Training Center, has worked professionally with a variety of animal species for over a decade. She began her career in the equestrian world, having been an accomplished rider since the age of 5. Over the years she gained experience working with numerous species including dogs, horses, cats, birds, small animals (rats, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, etc.), poultry, cows, pigs, sheep, and many more. Sara is board certified in animal training, maintains many organizational affiliations, and has lectured at educational conferences on her experience. She has dedicated her career to continuing her education, and spreading awareness and knowledge of humane science based methods.

The methods used in all services are force, pain and fear free and based exclusively in modern science. All techniques are based in operant and classical conditioning, and function on both a psychological and biological level. The goal is to teach the animal how to problem solve and apply learned skills in any given situation, while employing management strategies to replace and extinguish unwanted behaviors. These techniques not only create reliable behavior, they strengthen relationships between owners and animals.

Sara requires that all supporting staff also voluntarily comply with humane practice regulations set forth by governing organizations to ensure the safety and efficacy of our practices. For more information please see the Position Statements on Behavior Modification of Animals put forth by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.
